Chester Clippers Football vs. West Chester Henderson

Chester Football game opener with West Chester Henderson took place at home at the A-Field. West Chester Henderson usually wins the game as they did this time as well. Today W.C Henderson won 36 to 14 Chester.

If the goal was to improve, then Chester made an extra touchdown this year. Chester scored in the last quarter by making two touchdowns and a 2 points conversion. Typically, Chester does not score in the first 2 to 3 quarters; this should change. Chester should score earlier in the game to give them a better chance at getting a win. If another goal was not to fight during the game, then Chester was successful. West Chester Henderson was accused of unsportsmanlike conduct during the game but they did donate half the 50/50 chance won to Chester’s Athletics.

CHESTER CITY & POWER 99FM 2014 ‘PEACE ON THE STREETS’ FINALE

CHESTER, PA- Mayor John A. Linder and the City of Chester will host the summer 2014 finale of the Power 99FM ‘Peace on the Streets’ series on Thursday, August 28th inside Chester Park, Chester City, PA. WUSL-Philadelphia, a Clear Channel station, conducts the ‘Peace on the Streets’ series of concerts in communitywide events throughout the tri-state area all summer, the purpose of which is to create an atmosphere of safety, fun, and fellowship featuring live entertainment and positive messages of unity and peace. This year’s event features performances by Brave Williams, Quilly Millz, Driicky Graham, and Kirko Bangz, Brotherly Love, and DJ RL, all hosted by The Power 99FM Morning Show air personalities, Mikey Dredd, Motha Knows, Mina SayWhat, and the Power 99FM dance team.

A host of sponsors including Crozer Keystone Health System Community Health Educators, HCS of Delaware Valley, Women & Children’s Health Services, Forman Mills, Knowledge Points, Chester Upland School District, Prysm Youth Center, Family Support Line, Healthcare Solutions, Adult Daycare of Chester, Kids Asthma Management Program, Crozer Keystone Health System Behavioral Health, Holcomb Behavioral Health, McCarrin Chiropractic, ChesPenn Health Center, WIC, Fare & Square Grocery, Omni Healthcare, Lowry Community Connection, Comcast (Internet Essentials), the Mayor’s Office of the Community Liaison, Safe Corridors, Amir’s Catering, and the City of Chester, will have representation on site. The Chester Upland School District will present the Chester City Back to School Rally event from 2P-4P, with performances to follow. Chester City will also reveal their ‘Peace on the Streets Pledge Banner’ calling on residents to take a ‘pledge for peace’ to become part of the solution in the City of Chester.

First Ladies Course on Saturdays at Widener University



The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Widener University will be offering a three session Saturday morning course on the First Ladies of the United States. Join us as we discover what part these women played in the formation of our government, in influencing political decisions, and in the formation of social and cultural ideas. The course will be taught by Barbara Fallini, BS, MA, West Chester University, MA, Villanova University, who was nominated as “Teacher of the Year” for Pennsylvania during her career as an educator in the fields of economics and government. 

The course is open to everyone and will take place from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on September 27, October 4 and October 11 in Kapelski Learning Center, Room 236B on the university’s main campus in Chester, PA. Interested individuals can mail in or drop off $40.00 and completed registrations by September 19.
