Chester Clippers 2013-2014 Boys Hoops Roster and Welcome Message

From Terry Thomas-scorekeeper
Shared by Dave Burman

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's that time again ... how time flies. This upcoming Saturday marks the opening day of the 2013-14 basketball season. This year's version of the Chester High Clippers will only have one familiar name and that being senior guard, Conrad Chambers. So this year I am including a team roster.

After three outstanding seasons with a record of 91-5 and three trips to the Championship game coming home with two golden balls, Coach Yarbray will once again depend on youth as he embarks on a season with only three experienced varsity players. Chambers will be joined by 6'2" shooting guard Mahir Johnson, the son Chester Hall of Fame inductee Michael Johnson, and 6'8" forward Tyrell Sturdivant both Chester natives who are returning home after stints at Glasgow High School in Delaware. Joining these veterans will be seniors 6'2" guard Da'Saun Campbell, 6"3" guard/foward Brewster Ward and 6'8" forward Gabe Adesina. Juniors 6'8" forward Maurice Henry and 5'8" Keyonte Watkins will be used to help stabilize promising sophomores guards 5'6" Kahleeq Campbell, 6'3" Jahmi Bailey and 6'7" Marquis Collins. Rounding out the Clippers roster will be 6'3" freshman guard Jamar Sudan.

With size, speed, depth and athleticism the 2013-14 version of the Chester Clippers will make for an entertaining afternoon or evening.

After trips to Coatesville, Lancaster and Reading, the Clippers will come home to the 'Clip Joint' to take on Philadelphia power Math-Civic-Science Academy in the inaugural Fred Pickett Classic. The schedule doesn't get an easier as the following weekend Atantic City and Neumann-Goretti will be their opponents in the Pete Nelson Classic on the campus of Widener University. Neumann-Goretti will be seeking revenge after the Clippers had their way with them during the nationally televised game on ESPN last season.

When the calendar turns to 2014, Chester will mix-in games against District 3 power Harrisburg and defending State Champions Imhotep out of Philadelphia with their Del Val League opponents before heading south to Washington, DC to take on Capital Christian Academy In the Nations Capital Hoop Classic. The Clippers will end the season at the Prime Time Shootout in Roselle, NJ against New Jersey's Lakewood and Union Catholic.

As in the past, I will be submitting a game summary after each contest. If we come to your area, stop by and say hello ... I look forward to meeting you.
