Widener among Most Underrated Colleges in America

Business Insider, a leading online business news site, has named Widener University to its list of the Top 25 Most Underrated Colleges in America based on a comparison of the annual U.S. News & World Report college rankings to the mid-career salaries of college graduates.

“Future income isn't the only factor that should determine college choice, but it may be the most important one,” the Business Insider story begins. “So how good are the famous college rankings from U.S. News & World Report at predicting future income? It turns out there are some majorly underrated and overrated schools.”

The Business Insider study plots the U.S. News & World Report rankings versus PayScale’s annual College Salary Report. The results place Widener as the #25 most underrated college in the nation.

“Almost 30 percent of (Widener) students major in business and 22 percent major in health professions, which may explain why graduates have such high mid-career salaries at an average of $78,200,” the story states.

More information on Business Insider’s methodology for the ranking is available here.
