Bridge at 9th Street and Eyre Drive

Finished Bridge (dsbpix)

For those of you who have been inconvenienced by the bridge closing at 9th Street and Eyre Drive in Chester, the bridge will re-open soon. A worker reported that the bridge will re-open in December but that is not the official word. The bridge has been closed since August 2011 over a year now. The bridge replacement project was reported to cost $5.4 million.

The bridge replacement is looking solid. A worker reported that the bridge needs some finishing touches like paving the walkway. Some people from out of town, who have found out the hard way especially when 95 was jammed up and they had to turn around at Chester High School’s parking lot, will welcome the news (So funny you had to see it). For local people like me, who had to take the long way around, we are looking forward to going over the bridge again. So look for the bridge to re-open soon.
