The Pennsylvania
Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) is pleased to invite
you to the Philadelphia Premiere of Brooklyn Castle, a compelling
documentary about the power of chess and the importance of after school
education. Amidst financial crises and unprecedented public school budget cuts,
Brooklyn Castle takes an intimate look at the challenges and triumphs facing
members of a junior high school's champion chess team.
Let the
games begin! The evening's events kick off with friendly games of chess
played by local school students throughout the lobby of the Prince Music
Theater. Immediately after the screening of Brooklyn Castle join
us for the Lights On Afterschool Panel Discussion. Moderated by ASAP
Executive Director Justin Ennis, a panel including Brooklyn Castle
Director/Producer Katie Dellamaggiore, Chess Teacher Greg Shahade, and Director
of PSAYDN, Kacy Conley will discuss the impact of after school education.
