May’s Water Ice the End of an Era

Recently, I did a story on May’s Water Ice (Click Here) . The brothers were not sure if they were going to stay open. Business has been bad for the past few years. With dwindling customers, they had to make the decision to close down. Fran May says, “The For Sale sign went up this afternoon.” After 65 years in the business, the building and the business are for sale. 

It was just last Wednesday when I stopped by to chat with them and to buy my favorite Honey Dew water ice. Although their water ice business is closing, Fran and Kevin have their own home based Tele-Communications business they started three years ago. 

I asked Fran if there was anything he would like to impart to us as May’s closes its door. He said with much regret and disappointment of the closing, “I would like to thank everyone for their patronage over the years.”
