Chester, PA –Renowned author, professor, and social justice activist Ewuare X. Osayande will speak at a service commemorating the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Chester Eastside Ministries on Sunday, January 15, 2012. The service begins at 3 pm. Chester Eastside Ministries is located at 420 East 9th Street in Chester, PA. All are welcome to attend.

Osayande’s presentation, “Resurrection City: King from The Poor People’s Campaign to Occupy Wall Street,” will address the final years of King’s life and his mission to address poverty and economic inequality. “Forty-four years after King’s assassination, the United States continues to grapple with the issue of poverty and racial intolerance,” says Osayande. “The Occupy Wall Street movement is testament to the prophetic relevance of King in our time.”

Ewuare Osayande has been a keynote speaker for Dr. King Day celebrations across the country for more than a decade. Whereas many speakers tend to focus on King's 1963 "I Have A Dream" speech, Osayande takes on the full measure of King's legacy. He shows the breadth and depth of King's ever-growing consciousness and commitment to justice and peace.

Other works by Osayande include Commemorating King: Speeches Honoring the Legacy of the Civil Rights Movement and Misogyny and the Emcee: Sex, Race and Hip Hop.
