MLK: Commercialism

Now you know you made it as a holiday when you have sales named in your honor. Just like Christmas and President’s day (which is next month), Martin Luther King, Jr. sales are out there. I always thought some things were sacred like Jesus and MLK but apparently not. There is a list of sales going on but also a list of places to serve on this day of service for MLK. Last year, I covered events from the YWCA, Crozer, to the Boys and Girls Club Click Here. This day of service is as cold as last year so I have narrowed down my events to attend. Yesterday I was inspired to attend the Eastside Ministries event with Dr. Osaynde. I am so glad I attended Click Here. Today there is a list of events at Widener University Click Here and the YWCA Click Here. If you cannot make it to all of them, try to make it to at least one. I told my kids it was not a sleep in day, this was a day of service. I shared a good lesson on Dr. King. I never get tired of hearing the “I Have a Dream Speech”; Happy Birthday observance to Dr. King.
