Hanging of the Greens

dsbpix

YWCA Director Twyla Simpkins hosted the Hanging of the Greens event to bring together community support to help with the decorations for Christmas. After decorating, the groups sang Christmas Carols and enjoyed a pre-Christmas meal of ham, turkey, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and punch.

Community groups involved with the decorations were Dramatic Impacq, the drill team, which showed their support by helping with Christmas chains and cards; The Achievement Program (TAP), a 4 yr. program from 9-12 grades with the goal to go to college, put up wreaths; The Xinos decorated with garlands; and Emerging Young Leaders (EYL), a Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) youth group, decorated the Christmas tree.

Below are some pictures of the event.
