Chester Community Charter visit to Valley Forge

Buddy Bison

Story by khubbard

The 5th graders from CCCS visited the scenic Valley Forge National Park this past week. The park teamed up with the Buddy Bison program to put together a fantastic trip for the students! Throughout the day, students participated in a nature hike through the woods and meadows of the park, investigating the trails along their way. They also took part in an education simulation where they looked at the effects of habitat changes with deer in the park. During the final part of the day, the students talked about George Washington’s stay at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War, and even got a tour of his headquarters.

The students were given a Buddy Bison T-shirt and a stuffed animal as a reminder to take care of their local parks. They ended the day with Buddy Bison saying “Explore outdoors, the parks are yours!”
