Since 1914, the YWCA Chester has served the City of Chester and surrounding community with its programs and services that focus on it's mission to empower women and eliminate racism by promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. The YWCA Chester provides an alternative for positive family and community life. It's the oldest continuous serving non-profit organization in the City of Chester.  It was founded out of the concern and commitment of sixteen women whose goal was to provide educational and recreational opportunities for women and girls. The YWCA has been located “over town” at the heart of the city’s social and spiritual life. Today with a new vision and new focus, the YWCA Chester is continuing to provide dynamic programs, services and special events to the same community we have called home for the past 96 years.
