The City is currently seeking nominations for the Mayor’s 6th Annual Scholars Awards taking place on June 30, 2011. Each year, this festive occasion is held to recognize the academic achievements, community service and/or college acceptance of students in grades 8-12 who reside in the City of Chester. Student honorees are selected through an application process, based on the following criteria: 3.0 or higher grade point average for three consecutive quarters; letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor and/or community leader; proven outstanding community service; and collegiate attainment by seniors for fall 2011 along with a written essay submission.
Applications are also available at Chester City Hall, 1 Fourth Street, between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 pm. All applications must be completed in full and returned to City Hall, no later than Friday, June 3, 2011.
