Chester Pepped Up for PSSA

Chester High School had a Pep Rally this afternoon. The school was getting pepped up for PSSA, the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA Test). PSSA testing starts tomorrow. The Pep Rally was to motivate students to do well on the test. Chester has been gradually making progress to increase scores on the test. Currently the following schools have made Annual Yearly Progress (AYP), Stetser Elementary School, Toby Farms Elementary School, and Chester Upland School of the Arts (CUSA).
Dray Clark Channel 3 News Reporter
At the Pep Rally was Dray Clark of Channel 3 News. He delivered a speech to help motivate students for PSSA testing. He got everyone’s attention by opening with, “there’s a nasty rumor going on out there about Chester students. They have no goals, no dreams, and no aspirations.” What? Well, students were quick to defend themselves. “We have goals, dreams, and aspirations,” they yelled back. But Dray was trying to make a point in hopes of motivating them. He told students about his background growing up in Chester and that he was able to become successful. They too can achieve success and it begins with taking the PSSA test seriously to improve their scores.
Singer Jamai
Jamai, the music artist, also made an appearance. He performed a few of his songs from his hit CD, Earthquake. Jamai was also a student at Chester High School. Students were familiar with his music and were very responsive to his performance.
CHS Band
The Pep Rally wrapped up with the Chester High School Band. Great afternoon for a Pep Rally! Good Luck on the PSSA!
