Chester BLASTS Glen Mills to improve to 19-1

Chester clinched at least a tie for the Del Val Championship with a 79-47 win over the host Glen Mills Battlin Bulls Tuesday.

With the win, the Clippers pushed their overall record to 19-1 and their league record to 8-0 giving them a two game lead over Penn Wood with just two 2) league games to play.


Chester sprinted pass the Battlin Bulls 24-12 in the first quarter led by senior Maurice Nelson's 7 points and sophomore Richard Granberry's 6 points.


Junior Tymier Butler came off the bench to contribute 5 points in the opening stanza.


The second quarter saw three different Clippers lead the charge.


Seniors DeQuann Walker and Lamon Church added 7 and 5 points respectively while sophomore Darius Robinson dropped in 6 points.


The end result was a 22-17 quarter for the Clippers and a 46-29 halftime advantage.


With the bench seeing plenty of time in the first half, the fresh legs of junior starter Erikk Wright was evident in the 3rd quarter as he hauled in 7 boards and dropped in 9 of his 11 points.


Fellow starter Nelson collected 5 of his season high 7 steals along with 6 more of his 13 points and 2 of his 5 assists.


Outscoring their opponents 20-8,
Chester held a commanding 66-37 lead going into the final quarter. Butler kept the Clippers afloat during the final period where he scored 7 of his career high 14 points which also was a team high on the day. Tymier had a full afternoon as he dished two dimes, blocked 2 shots, grabbed 5 rebounds and collected 1 steal.

Darius Robinson contributed 5 points in the 4th to finish with 11 points putting 5 Clippers in double figures.


Lamon Church was the final double figure scorer with 11 points. Rondae Jefferson would add 3 points along with 6 assists, 6 rebounds and 1 steal.


Chester returns to action on Thursday evening, February 10th, when they travel to face the Academy Park Knights. A win would officially return the Del Val Championship to 9th & Barclay.
