Martin Luther King, Jr. 21st Annual Breakfast

"EMBRACING CHANGE: PAVING THE ROAD TO SUCCESS"

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. annual breakfast is sponsored by The Chester Club of The National Association of Negro Business & Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. The event is held on January 17, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the Ramada Inn, Essington, PA. The event has now been held for 21 years.

The Program will open with the introduction of guest by Barbara B. Smith the Chairperson of the breakfast committee. The Master of Ceremonies is Mr. John Linder, Council Man for the City of Chester. The audience will sing “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing”. Mrs. Geraldine B. Richardson, Club President will greet and welcome the audience. There will be special music by Mrs. Sarah F. Finley, Chester Club Recording Secretary. Table Blessing will be by Ms. Javai Green of Chester Youth Club. After the breakfast is served, introduction of guest speaker will be by Portia L. West, Counsel Woman for the City of Chester. Guest Soloist Mr. Donald Saunders will perform.

Special Guest Speaker will be Mr. Draymon Clark, Reported for CBS 3 News and Emmy Award Winner. According to his biography, Clark came home to the Delaware Valley from WJW-TV, the FOX station in Cleveland, Ohio where he has been a reporter and weekend anchor since 2005.  Previously, he had served as a reporter and weekend anchor for WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He also worked at WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia as a reporter and weekend anchor. Clark’s reporting has been honored with a 2004 Michigan Emmy Award for Best Health and Medical Series and two awards from The Press Club of Cleveland for Spot News and General News. A proponent of literacy programs Clark has served as a mentor and tutor for school children in cities where he has worked.  His interest grew out of his own struggle with reading as a grade school student. A native of Chester, Pennsylvania, Clark attended Chester High School Academy.  He is a 2000 graduate of Lincoln University, the nation’s first historically Black college, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English Communications.  Clark is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Clark and his family live in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Clark is also scheduled to appear later at the Boys and Girls Club in Chester.

The Breakfast Committee, Mrs. Barbara B. Smith, Chairperson & Mrs. Deloris Riley Co-Chairperson, thanks the audience for attending the breakfast. “We also sincerely thank all of you for once again sharing this morning with us. It is our hope that you enjoyed the program and that you will ‘Remember the Dream, Live the Dream and do not rest, Until the Dream is fulfilled’.”
