Tree Re-Planting at Chester High School

Center: CHS Science Teacher Robert Downs, Director of the Environmental Program from Widener University Dr. Kathy Hornberger and Representatives from the  PA Horticultural Society
Chester High School Students

In the spring of this year, Science Teacher Robert Downs, Chester High School students, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and Widener University planted 35 trees to celebrate Earth Day. They were back again today to re-plant 10 trees. Robert Downs said the reasons for replacing the trees were “due to environmental stress, record drought, heat, and one of the driest and hottest summer on record caused the trees to die.” A grant from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in conjunction with Widener University afforded the school to replace the 10 trees.

  1. I think that they are doing good for the school. Planting trees will make the school look better. Its good that they take their time out to plant trees for the school. Its also nice to see that The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Widener University is also helping out.

  2. I think that is a great way to help the earth stay heathly and giving a home to those trees, because a good heathly tree need good soil, sun light, water and people to take care of them then when we get older our kids will have a beautiful world to see and to keep save and beautiful for thier kids. This is a great way to take care of the animals and our bodys trees give use foods to eat with out trees and plants we would die out, so take care of your world by keeping it heathly
