Picture with Santa: So Cute

Family Festival Holiday Bazaar was held at the YWCA in Chester today from 10 am- 4 pm. This was the first time the event was being held. Interim CEO Twyla Simpkins said that “the purpose of Family Fun Day is to make the community aware that the Y is alive and healing.” This event included area vendors (Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry), food, candy, crafts, Movie Theater, Moon Bounce, and Santa. The Chester High School’s Key Club students, Andrew Davis, Jasmine Barksdale, Javai Green, and Clayonia Cogmon, were there to volunteer. The Key Club’s motto is “to serve”.  Ms. Simpkins said, “The Y is making a comeback. The Y is a community building. It has a legacy. It’s got to be something here to leave.”

The Y is on the raise. Good News from the YWCA today.

  1. This event was so much fun to have gone to. Me and my friends went out in the cold dressed like christmas tree's and reef's to get donations for the little kids. I didn't mind the cold because it was for a good cause. Some people were being a little mean but that was ok because there were alot of generous people also. I had fun playing with the little kids and just helping out period.

  2. I think this event will attract more people to go to the Y. The ywca has not really been talked about over the past years. If they continue to have more events for the community I think the Y will be on the rise again.

  9. I think this event was something nice and fun to do to bring all the children out and show that the "Y" is still "ALIVE" and to let the people know Chester's not all about violence.

  11. Wow Ms. Bee, as a YWCA Chester Board Member I find these post very encouraging. Thanks to all the volunteers, Santa and his helpers who brought smiles to the childrens faces which made the event a success. I'm glad to know that the community enjoyed the event and think that we should continue to do more events like this. I say we always have something going on at the YW and one way to really know what's going on is to become a member. Join the YWCA today where we strive to empower women and eliminate racism. Happy Holidays.
